RESEARCH SCHOOL
Young Mathematicians in Dynamical Systems (1097)
Dates: 25-29 November 2013 at CIRM (Marseille, France)
DESCRIPTION
This event stems from recent work on the Dynamics of the Weil-Petersson geodesic flow. Various areas of mathematics come together here: ergodic theory, geometry, continuous and discrete dynamical systems, Teichmüller space etc.

Our aim is to gather specialists in these areas for detailed presentations and young researchers who will present some of their findings.

This school is part of the continuing program of activities of the GDR Platon in Ergodic Geometry. A first introduction to Weil-Petersson geodesic flow will be carried out by Amie Willkinson (University of Chicago) during the GDR Platon Days in May 2013 in Roma.

We have chosen to hold the doctoral School during the week preceding the semester’s main conference, the aim being to enable participants – in particular those from overseas – to stay for a second week at CIRM.
The main conference will take place on 2-6 December and is organized by Serge Troubetzkoy, Sandro Vaienti, Yakov Pesin, Jörg Schmeling and Boris Hasselblatt.
